Biography
Dr. Barb earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, where he distinguished himself academically and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. During his medical training, he received multiple academic scholarships and awards recognizing his achievements.
He completed a research fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, working with Dr. Barrett Haik and Dr. Robert Ogg on research involving visual system development in children with retinoblastoma. His research has been published in peer-reviewed medical literature and presented at national and international scientific meetings.
Following medical school and internship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Dr. Barb completed his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical School in Boston. He then completed advanced fellowship training in vitreoretinal disease and surgery at Emory University School of Medicine and the Emory Eye Center in Atlanta.
Throughout his training and career, he has contributed to research involving retinal disease, ocular inflammation, retinal detachment, age-related macular degeneration, retinoblastoma, and other ophthalmic conditions. His work has included peer-reviewed publications as well as presentations at major ophthalmology and vision-research conferences.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Barb enjoys fly fishing, fly tying, cooking and is an avid sports fan.
