Biography

Dr. Gunn has been associated with Southeastern Retina Associates in Kingsport, Tennessee, since 1997. In addition, he is medical director of the Johnson City Eye Surgery Center and serves on the board of directors of Kingsport Day Surgery Center. He began his education at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga in 1977 with a double major in biology and zoology. He finished his undergraduate degree in the pre-med curriculum at Christian Brothers College in Memphis and enrolled in the UT College of Medicine. After finishing his medical degree in 1985, he served a one-year internship at UT COM, Chattanooga Unit/Erlanger Medical Center and a three-year residency at Miller Eye Center, also at Erlanger.

Dr. Gunn spent 1989 to 1990 at the University of Illinois at Chicago, as a fellow in retina and vitreous at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary.

Before joining Southeastern Retina Associates, he practiced with Carolina Eye Associates in Charlotte, NC.
