Dr. Rohan Shah is a Tennessee native and grew up in Lawrenceburg, TN. After attending The Webb School in Bell Buckle, TN, where he was Valedictorian of his class, he attended Vanderbilt University. There, he graduated Summa cum Laude with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Biomedical Engineering.
Afterwards, he continued his education in Nashville and attended the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where he was active in several organizations, held several leadership roles, and was active in ophthalmology research. Once completing his medical degree, he moved to Chicago, IL for ophthalmology residency at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. During residency, he was active in several research projects and the education of fellow residents and medical students. In addition, he was elected Co-Chief Resident his final year.
Following residency, Dr. Shah returned to Nashville for a two-year fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery at the Vanderbilt Eye Institute where he was awarded the J. Donald M. Gass, MD Endowed Fellowship. Over the years, Dr. Shah has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in ophthalmic and medical journals including Ophthalmology, IOVS, American Journal of Ophthalmology, JAMA Ophthalmology, and Retina. He has also presented at several international meetings such as ARVO, AAO, ASRS, and Retina Society.
Dr. Shah is extremely excited to be continuing his career in Tennessee as part of the Southeastern Retina Associates team. He is happy to be serving the Chattanooga and Southeast communities and looks forward to being active in clinical trials, educating the community, and treating patients.
In his free time, he values time with family and friends. He also enjoys the outdoors and stays active by running and playing tennis or golf.
