Full Biography

Dr. Devon Ghodasra is a native of the Chattanooga area. He attended the McCallie School, where he was a faculty scholar and a member of the varsity tennis team. He went to college at Duke University. He received a full scholarship to the Medical College of Georgia and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He was awarded the competitive Doris Duke Research fellowship during which he developed image analysis software to diagnose retinal diseases.

Dr. Ghodasra completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where he was awarded numerous honors including a National Eye Institute Travel Grant. He was ultimately awarded the prestigious Heed Fellowship, given nationally to 20 outstanding residents. He completed his fellowship in Retinal Diseases and Surgery at one of the premier eye hospitals in the country, the Kellogg Eye Center of the University of Michigan. He was recognized with the Raymond R. Margherio Award by Retina Society, which is given nationally to one fellow per year. He also won the American Society of Retina Surgeons Research Award and the Kellogg Fellow Research Award. He has served as a consultant for the retina service at the Ann Arbor Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital.

Dr. Ghodasra has given numerous national and international presentations and has authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles in ophthalmic and medical journals. He also helped author a textbook about the Argus retinal implant. He is passionate about being at the cutting edge of ophthalmic research and takes great pride in providing his hometown patients with the most advanced retinal care.

In his little free time, he enjoys making a mess with his baby daughter, kayaking, watching college basketball and football, and playing tennis and golf.
